A high school counselor is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.

Ellen Wermeling, 32, faces a felony charge of improper relationship with a student. Court documents state that Wermeling works as a school counselor at MacArthur High School in the Aldine ISD.

Wermeling is accused of having sex with a 12th grade student at MacArthur on multiple occasions. The teen told Aldine ISD police that the relationship started in February, and he often spent time with Wermeling at her apartment and communicated with her on social media.

A football coach brought the alleged relationship to the attention of the school's principal, according to court documents.
