South Carolina woman arrested for April Fools' school shooting prank

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SC

Authorities say the 54-year-old woman sent a text message to her daughter about a possible shooting at Virginia College in Spartanburg where she works. This prompted the daughter to call 911 and deputies swarmed the campus, CNN reports.

The woman was charged with one count of disturbing a school.

Authorities say the daughter who made the initial 911 call will not be charged because she did not know it was a joke.
