Undercover officers were watching what appeared to be a drug deal going down on Rankin at the North Freeway.
Both suspects ran when officers tried to stop them. The first suspect led police on a short chase before surrendering. He was charged with felony evading.
The second suspect is charged with assaulting a police officer because he hit a patrol car. The officer was not injured in the accident.
Police did not find drugs in either vehicle.
