Biological mother fights to get malnourished son

HOUSTON

We told you Monday that the 5-year-old's father and stepmother are facing charges in the case. A custody hearing for the child was being held Tuesday afternoon.

The biological mother of that 5-year-old boy, Wendy Hall, declined to speak to the media as she rushed into the courtroom. She was visibly upset. We did have a chance to speak with her attorney, though. He said she has been at the hospital by her son's side.

That boy was found by police at a hotel in Humble, emaciated and bruised. His stepmother, Tammi Bleimeyer, and the boy's biological father, Bradley Bleimeyer, were arrested for felony child endangerment.

According to police, the boy was about 30 pounds and was locked in a closet underneath the stairs of the couple's house in Spring.

That boy's 16-year-old stepbrother tipped off police about the alleged abuse. Police say the boy was removed from the house and taken to the hotel in humble to avoid the investigators.

Frank Mann, who represents the boy's biological mother, told Eyewitness News that boy was being kept from his mother for some time.

"It's been two and a half years. She has been completely distraught. The child is almost passed away from the neglect of the father," said Mann. "He has been going from county to county, or even state to state from what we hear. We've been trying to find him to serve him. We finally found him in jail and served him the paperwork."

CPS was also looking to take custody of Tammi Bleimeyer's six other children. She is also pregnant with her seventh child.

That 5-year-old boy is being slowly introduced to food again.
