That is just what happened when Joe Gardner returned home after a 21-month deployment in Korea. Garner met and fell in love with Lindsey Clagg using the dating website match.com. On Friday, they met in person for the first time.
"It's exciting. That's the best word I can describe it. I was so excited to get off the plane and meet her in person for the first time," Gardner said.
"It's great because I've spent a year just staring at a computer screen, ya know, with our Skype conversations and everything. So now to have him home, words just can't explain how happy I am," Clagg said.
Garner also met his future in-laws for the first time. Clagg says now that he's home, she never wants to let him go.
