Drug suspect running from cops hits teen riding horse

HOUSTON

Cedric Abraham, 17, was riding the horse, named Blackjack, on Rockaway near Parker in northeast Houston. Eyewitnesses say the chase suspect ran a stop sign and hit the horse and rider. The teen was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The horse had a badly broken leg. A deputy with the Harris County Sheriff's Office Livestock Division was summoned to end the horse's suffering.

Houston police say the suspect took off during a traffic stop and was throwing drugs out of the window. Police did catch him and he now faces several charges, including felony evading arrest, failure to stop and render aid and tampering with evidence.
