Motorcycle chase ends in fiery crash with patrol vehicle in SW Houston

HOUSTON

Houston police tried to pull over the motorcycle rider along Westheimer and Briarpark just before 1am but he took off. Police chased him onto the Sam Houston Tollway. That's when the motorcyclist lost control, bounced off an SUV at a red light and then hit a patrol car.

The motorcycle burst into flames. The rider survived, suffering only minor burns.

"They said he was up and walking around after the bike crashed. Just the lower portion of his body caught on fire," said Sgt. JD Rossman with the Houston Police Department.

The motorcyclist is being charged with felony evading. The other vehicle in the street race has not been found.
