Isaac Greer, 33, was arrested after police searched his black Honda Accord, Huntington Beach storage room, and the Costa Mesa motel room he was living in.
During their search, investigators found 50 pounds of marijuana, boxes of brownie cake mix, scales and business cards they believe he handed out to students.
The investigation began last April when students at Pomona Elementary and Tewinkle Intermediate schools became ill after eating marijuana-laced brownies.
In each incident, students reported becoming nauseous and ill after eating brownies shared with them by another student. Two students, one at each school, were arrested in connection.
On Jan. 18, police began a similar investigation after two Newport Harbor High School students became sick in a similar fashion. Police soon learned the two students had purchased marijuana-laced brownies and Pop Tarts from an adult male known as "Clever."
Detectives learned "Clever" distributed business cards with a contact phone number, and encouraged students to pass them out to their friends.
With help from the Costa Mesa Police Special Investigations Unit, "Clever" was identified as Isaac Greer, 33, of Costa Mesa. During their two-month investigation, detectives witnessed the suspect meeting with minors for suspected drug transactions.
Detectives then obtained a search warrant and searched Greer's vehicle, storage location and motel room. That's when police uncovered 50 pounds of marijuana, boxes of brownie cake mix, numerous business cards identical to those previously obtained from students, scales for weighing marijuana, and vacuum packing equipment and bags.
Greer, who police say is an admitted gang member, was subsequently arrested and booked at the Costa Mesa police jail.
He faces numerous charges including possession for sale of marijuana, transportation of marijuana, sales of a controlled substance to a minor between the ages of 14 to 18, child endangerment, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held at the Orange County jail in lieu of $500,000 bail.
No further details were released. Detectives are working to determine whether Greer was involved with the marijuana-laced edibles consumed by children at Pomona Elementary and Tewinkle Intermediate schools.
