Yates comes up short in 3A title game

AUSTIN, TX

Yates used their customary full-court press to force Madison into 34 turnovers, twenty of those were in the first half. But with just over a minute left in the third quarter, and the game tied at 51 with just a minute left in the third quarter, the Lions faltered, turning the ball over two times, and missing six consecutive shots.

They began the fourth quarter down five, and were outscored by seven in the final eight minutes, losing to Madison 82-70.

The Yates senior class saw three consecutive trips to the state finals, but were never able to to win the championship. The loss is doubly painful because Dallas Madison is the same team that defeated them in last year's finals.

JC Washington and Damion Lewis led the way for Yates with 20 and 18 points respectively. For Madison, Admon Gilder had a game-high 22. Cameron Bryant added 19.
