Shots fired during SW Houston restaurant robbery

HOUSTON

Two men went into the busy restaurant on Westheimer and Briar Ridge to rob the place, taking money from the register and from customers. They also got customers' cell phones.

Police say the suspects fired two shots into the ceiling because people weren't moving fast enough.

"He threatened everyone that if you don't have your cell phone out, your wall out or your cell phone, you would die," customer Amber McDaniel told us.

A customer flagged down a police officer in the area, who went to the restaurant, causing the suspects to head out the back door.

The two suspects tried to get away. One did, but the other is in custody after an extensive search of the area.

The suspects did have a backpack, reportedly with the stolen items in it. Police were able to recover it and return some items to the customers.
