Police say 40-year-old Heather Defreitas was meticulous in her overnight spree. She filled carts with items, hid the carts at the back of the store and then packed all of it into two large handbags. And she did it without employees getting suspicious.
Her three children, ages 3, 6 and 7, spent most of the night sleeping in shopping carts.
"It's always unfortunate when children are involved. To spend the whole night in Walmart sleeping in a shopping cart is very unusual," East Lampeter Township Police Lt. Robin Weaver said.
The store manager got suspicious and saw Defreitas try to hide something. She was arrested when she tried to leave the store, with almost $600 worth of stolen merchandise.
