Police impersonator sexually assaults woman in north Harris County

HOUSTON

"We really want to strike early, get this out," said Deputy Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Police say the 47-year-old woman was walking on FM 1960 near Kuykendahl when a car stopped and the man inside claimed he was an undercover officer.

"Told her that the area was not safe and that he would feel better if she got in the car and he would take her to where she wanted to go," Gilliland said.

The woman got in car and that's then she was attacked. The suspect then dropped her off on FM 1960 and Imperial Valley.

"These type of cases trouble us very much you know the trust we have with citizens we work to build that trust and for people to break down that trust puts us back anytime we need to talk to victims and witnesses," Gilliland said.

The impersonator never displayed a badge or any identification. Deputies say don't hesitate to ask.

"You have every right to," Gilliland said.

They say the man is described as a black male in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and may go by the name of Patrick. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt and red or black pants, and driving a silver two-door Toyota.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).
