Mistake leads to New York man winning $10M lottery prize

Jerry Kajfasz, 53, won at least $10 million, but the winning ticket almost slipped through his fingers, the New York Daily News reports.

He says he bought several scratch-off tickets from a gas station. The clerk accidentally handed him a $20 "Win for Life Spectacular" ticket, but he decided that was too much to pay to play the lottery.

He returned that ticket and left the store, but then he started scratching.

The tickets he purchased won him $25, so he decided to go back in and get that expensive ticket after all.

The ticket was worth a minimum of $10 million or $10,000 a week for life. Kajfasz's youngest son claimed the prize, so the payoff could be worth more than $10 million.
