Dontell Cooper, 22, was arrested without incident on Monday following an investigation in the Sunday evening murder of 46-year-old Morris Lee Gray.
Authorities say Cooper and Gray got into a fight in the 4200 block of Lockwood, and when Gray tried to run, Cooper chased him down the street and fatally beat him.
Gray died at the scene from blunt force trauma.
Cooper is being held at the Harris County jail on a $50,000 bond.
