Thieves use sledgehammer to break into north Houston grocery store

HOUSTON

It happened at a Fiesta store on Fulton and Patton. An employee says four men attempted to break in using a sledgehammer.

"I was working stocking overnight," said employee Francisco Davila. "I just heard a lot of big bangs, came up and saw what was going on and called the cops."

Police quickly arrived and the suspects took off running into a nearby neighborhood. They left behind a vehicle, which police hauled off.

At this point, it's not clear what the suspects were after. They didn't make it completely into the store.

We're following this story and will post any new information as we get it.
