Misspelled names showing up on voter ID cards in Fort Bend County

HOUSTON

Fort Bend County Elections Administrator John Oldham says some letters were dropped from names and addresses. The letters: G, J, Z and Q.

Elections officials say they have received a number of calls complaining of the misspellings. Oldham says the county uses a third party vendor which prints the certificates and that the county is taking action to ensure the vendor corrects the errors.

If you notice your certificate is inaccurate, Oldham says you should call the Fort Bend Elections office for a replacement card to be issued.

You can email vote@fortbendcountytx.gov with your name and 10 digit VUID number, which appears on the certificate.

Oldham insists that any misspellings will not affect your ability to vote as certificates are no longer used for identification. Texas law allows you to show your driver's license, passport or one of several other forms of approved identification.
