Student accused of making threat at Alvin High School

ALVIN, TX

Alvin ISD spokesperson Daniel Combs says a student at the high school, in a moment of frustration, made a very inappropriate comment, which was passed along to school officials. The student was removed from class and an investigation was launched.

Combs says nothing out of the ordinary was found, and school officials are still determining what punishment the student might face.

Principal Johnny Briseno sent a note to parents which reads in part: " This morning, the Alvin High School Administration received a report that a current AHS student made a threat against the campus. Campus administrators, along with Alvin ISD Police Department, immediately detained the student. The student has been removed from campus and the Alvin ISD Police Department is involved in conducting the follow up investigation. At this time, no reports indicate a threat against individual students or staff members."

According to Alvin ISD Police Chief Putnal, "We believe the student made a statement that is highly inappropriate; however, we do not believe the student had the intent nor the means to carry out a threat. We are confident that the safety of our students and staff have not been compromised."
