It was one year ago that a massive fire claimed the lives of two firefighters in Bryan. On Saturday the fire department held an emotional memorial to remember its fallen brothers.

The public joined firefighters and the families of the victims for a service in downtown. The city unveiled plaques in memory of Lieutenant Eric Wallace and Lieutenant Greg Pickard.

"You never really expect to find it at home," said Bryan Fire Chief Randy McGregor. "When it happened we just had to come to reality with it and step up and do what we could. Thank God we're supported by a tremendous community up here of caring people, supportive people."

Firefighters Ricky Mantey and Mitch Moran were seriously injured in the fire. On Saturday Moran officially returned to active duty at the memorial. He took his uniform out of a fire truck and stepped into his boots and gear as the crowd clapped.
