Hackers are preying on smart phone gamers who may be missing their Flappy Birds app.

Similar versions of the game are infecting Android users with Malware. Some apps are sending messages to premium numbers, causing unwanted charges.

So far, it only appears to be affecting Android users.

To avoid becoming a victim, experts suggest being cautious when downloading apps. Installing anti-virus software is also recommended.

A safe alternative to Flappy Birds is Sesame Street's new app calld Flappy Bert.

The spinoff to the popular game features a high-flying Bert floating down Sesame Street. When he falls to the ground, he shouts for his best friend, Ernie.

For those who prefer Angry Birds, Rovio is expected to announce a new version of the popular game Thursday. The company tweeted out a photo Wednesday teasing a "big adventure with new birds."
