Clerk fights back against would-be robber in northwest Houston

Police say a A store clerk grabbed his own gun and shot a suspected robber in northwest Houston.

A store clerk in northwest Houston fought back after he was targeted by a would-be robber.

It happened around 8pm at the Stop and Gone convenience store on Antoine near West Little York. Police tell us the suspect tried to hold up the store but the clerk was armed and shot at the man several times.

The store owner tells Eyewitness News this isn't the first time his business has been targeted.

"It is dangerous. Even in your home it is dangerous, you can't even go to your home nowadays," said the store owner.

Police say someone drove the suspect to a nearby hospital and he was later transferred to Ben Taub. Investigators say the man will survive.

There is no word yet on any possible charges in this case.
