On Monday, January 13, at approximately 5pm, the Pasadena Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at 6565 Spencer Highway in Pasadena. Firefighters found fire coming from an upstairs unit, extending towards the roof of the building.
Firefighters initiated a fire attack in the unit of origin, but were immediately forced out due to a structural collapse which nearly trapped two fire fighters.
The investigation into the cause of the fire revealed that the fire was intentionally set. Through the course of the investigation, Pasadena Fire Investigators were able to identified two persons of interest and on Friday, investigators were able to criminally charge two juveniles with first degree felony arson.
In 2010, the same apartment complex erupted in flames and displaced residents in 12 units.
