Victim: Prayer saved me, grandkids from armed suspect during northeast Houston carjacking

HOUSTON

Marjorie Freeman says the gunman showed up at her house on Valley Wind Drive in northeast Houston in the middle of the day. He pointed a gun at Freeman and pushed her daughter-in-law to the ground.

Freeman's two- and four-year-old grandchildren were in the car.

"I'm like don't you hurt my grandkids. They're my grandkids. And he says. 'You got five seconds to get them out the car mama,'" she said.

Freeman got the kids out, and the carjacker drove off. She says the four-year-old cried herself to sleep because she was so scared.

Police found the car abandoned nearby.
