Shooting at donut shop in NW Harris County ruled suicide

HOUSTON

Deputies were called out to the Fantastic Donuts and Croissants early Tuesday morning after customers entered the business and found the place empty. Investigators say the body of male in his 20s was found near a dumpster behind the donut shop. Sources close to the investigation say the man had allegedly been having a disagreement with a relative and died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The weapon was found near the man's body.

The medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy.

Fantastic Donuts and Croissants was at the center of another violent shooting incident back in September 2013. The business owner was shot during an early morning robbery after a group of masked gunmen entered the store.

Neighbors say the owner is still recovering from the injuries he suffered during that shootout. They say the donut shop just re-opened January 2014.
