Police say they've found the body of the 17-year-old who was at the center of an Amber Alert in southeast Houston.

Vy Ngoc Bao-Pham's body was found Wednesday evening in the 4100 block of Broadway in Sims Bayou.

Bao-Pham was last seen Monday at an apartment complex in the 8200 block of Broadway. Police say she was supposed to be going to a friend's home at another apartment nearby, but never showed up. And when her family received a cryptic text message demanding $50,000 cash for her safe return, they contacted police.

But police say Pham's boyfriend, 19-year-old Luan Vu, had already kidnapped and killed her. Investigators say Vu admitted to what he'd done during an interview Wednesday evening.

"He drew a map of the area here and put a circle and said, 'This is where I put the body.' And he led us right to where he drew the circle," HPD Homicide Detective Fil Waters said.

They won't discuss how he killed her yet; they will only say he wrapped her body in some type of covering and put her in the water.

Police describe Vu as a controlling boyfriend who was obsessed with Bao-Pham, and when she said she wanted to leave him, he would not let her go.

Vu is charged with capital murder and is being held at the Harris County Jail.
