But a lawyer for the family conceded Saturday that "It's not looking great" for the family of Avonte Oquendo.
Lawyer David Perecman says the clothing found on the remains appears to match what the 14-year-old was wearing when he vanished after bolting from his Queens school.
The body parts were discovered Thursday in a secluded inlet.
Police returned to the Queens waterfront Saturday to gather more evidence.
Perecman said Avonte's family is waiting for DNA tests to determine whether the remains belong to the missing teen.
