Police believe three armed purse robberies in southwest Houston were related

HOUSTON

The first incident happened around 2:45am in the 4100 block of Lanark. A woman was returning home with a friend when they say they were confronted in the driveway by a Hispanic male, who had gotten out of a car that was in the street.

Police say he showed a weapon and demanded their purses. He got one purse and fled. Neither woman was hurt in that incident.

Minutes later, another woman was robbed of her purse at gunpoint at the Jack In the Box in the 5100 block of Bellaire. She also was not hurt.

Shortly after that, a third woman was robbed at gunpoint at an apartment complex at Bellaire and Dunlap. She was shot during that robbery. She was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

All three incidents are believed to be related. A notice sent out Braeswood Place Homeowners Association warned residents in the area to be on alert.
