Sketch released of suspect in Fort Bend County attempted sexual assault

HOUSTON

The incident happened in the middle of the afternoon on Sunday on a jogging trail near the Grand Mission subdivision on Bellaire Boulevard.

The victim says the man attempted to sexually assault the woman in a secluded area of the trail. Authorities released a sketch of the suspect Wednesday afternoon. The man is described as a white male in his mid to late 20s, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. His most distinguishing trait is a large tattoo on the right side of his neck in what is described as a tribal design.

Nearby residents are worried about their safety after hearing the news.

"I have children. My kids walk to their friends' houses in the neighborhood. It's a major concern," nearby resident Michelle Searles said.

Police have some safety advice for joggers.

  • Exercising with others;
  • Provide notice to others concerning your whereabouts and your anticipated time of return;
  • Carry a cell phone in the event you may need to summon assistance (911);
  • Remain in those areas able to be viewed by others and avoid secluded pathways; and
  • Be aware of your surroundings and have a plan of action and escape in the event of being approached.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about this attack to call Call (281) 342-TIPS (8477). Information which leads to the apprehension and filing of charges on the suspect involved could earn a reward of up to $5,000.
