He shoots, he scores! Blind kid surprises, inspires at basketball game

Alek is an eighth grader at Saint Albans City School in Vermont. CNN reports that he's competed in cross country events, manages the boys' basketball team and even provides color commentary during the games.

He's also blind.

Alek never thought he'd be able to play for the basketball team, but his coach surprised him Thursday, asking him to inbound a play.

The whole thing was caught on camera as Alek got the ball. CNN reports that his first shot looped out and second attempt was a miss, but the third try was a charm.

The crowd went wild, and everyone there -- including the opposing team -- went home feeling like they were a part of something special.
