Authorities say it happened at a Wing Stop on Scott Street near the University of Houston campus.
Police say a group of large men hanging outside of the restaurant when a fight erupted and the teen, a student at Yates High School, was shot in the chest.
The 18-year-old man, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition and is expected to be OK.
Authorities are still searching for the gunman.
No other details were immediately available.
