Wrecks during fog block I-30 over Dallas-area lake

DALLAS, TX

Emergency personnel on Friday closed much of the I-30 bridge over Lake Ray Hubbard for hours amid the snarled traffic. The Texas Department of Transportation says two eastbound lanes reopened around midafternoon, but the westbound lanes remained closed.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans says seven people were transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

A dense fog advisory was in effect at the time of the accidents before dawn Friday. Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Tony Hartzel says at least six semis and eight passenger vehicles were part of the crashes, damaging about 500 feet of concrete barriers.
