Firefighters investigating vacant house fires in east Houston, Humble

HOUSTON

The blaze started around 9pm at a house on Old Humble Road at Bender.

Officials said the house had been vacant for about two years, but utilities were still connected.

No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Arson investigators are also trying to discover what started a fire in a seemingly vacant home in east Houston overnight.

Firefighters were called out to a home on Fidelity Street at Pennsylvania around 1am. It took 30 minutes to put out flames at the single-story home.

There was no power or gas hooked up to the house, but firefighters found mattresses inside, indicating that squatters may have been staying there.

The home was destroyed. No injuries were reported.
