Oklahoma man doesn't let arrest spoil marriage proposal

ELK CITY, OK

Justin Harrel and his girlfriend were at a holiday festival in the park when a police officer spotted him. Knowing he had warrants out for his arrest, the officer put Harrel in handcuffs.

That's when Harrel asked the officer to let him propose to his girlfriend.

"He said, 'Can you give me five minutes? What's the deal?'" said Chief Eddie Holland with the Elk City Police Department. "He said, 'I'm just fixing to propose to my girlfriend.'"

The officer allowed Harrel, who was in handcuffs by this time, to go ahead and pop the question, but refused to let him out of the cuffs to do it.

The officer helped Harrel get a ring out of his pocket and he proposed while in handcuffs. His girlfriend said yes.

Harrel was then booked.
