Around 7:30pm, an armed man wearing a mask walked into the convenience store in the 700 block of Normandy.
He was behind the counter robbing the clerk when a customer walked in the store then tried to intervene. The good Samaritan was shot by the suspect and transported to Ben Taub General Hospital. We don't yet know his condition.
The robber fled the scene on foot with a small amount of cash.
No other details were immediately available.
