Free Stuff Friday: Holiday happenings this weekend

It's Friday and that means time for Free Stuff Friday. There are plenty of holiday happenings and ways to save this holiday weekend.

At the Market Square in Downtown, tomorrow get into the holiday spirit with Christmas karaoke and sing a long contest then stick around for the Jim Carrey holiday film "The Grinch." The sing-a- long starts at 6:30pm with the movie following at 7:30pm

Skate and watch or just enjoy the movie for Friday night flicks on the ice at Discovery Green! Tonight's movie is at 6:30pm for the Christmas comedy "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. The movie will be orientated towards the ice rink but you don't have to skate so bring a blanket or chair to view from the white promenade and lake house deck. Skate rental fees apply and the movie is PG-13.

the folks over at Santikos Movie Theatres want to help our local food bank by offering a free screening of the movie the polar express this Saturday at 11am. This will take place over at their west Houston location and their Tomball theater. All you need to do is bring in three canned goods and that will get you in free. Plus Santa will also make an appearance after the show.

Over at the Sugar Land Town Square, you can catch the animated hit "Rise of the Guardians" Saturday at 7pm.

Ring in the holidays with this Christmas Boat Lane parade. It's a Clear Lake area tradition. The parade features more than 100 brightly decorated power and sailboats that will traverse the Clear Lake Channel from the South Shore Harbour Marina and the Nassau Bay Lagoon to Galveston Bay. The event is Saturday at 6pm.

Another holiday even is Lights in the Heights this Saturday from 6pm to 9pm. Lights in the Heights is a neighborhood holiday festival of music and holiday cheer through certain streets in the Heights. The route will begin at Watson and end at Florence. Expect to see seventy entertainment groups volunteer their time and talent for this event.
