It is with extreme sadness that we share the news of the passing of a member of the abc13 family. Photographer Bob Dows, who had battled a lengthy illness, died peacefully Monday evening just minutes after a visit from some of his 'family' -- that being members of the abc13 staff.

You may not recognize Bob's name or face, but many of you will recognize his work. Bob started working at Channel 13 in 1980. He was a good photographer, but that was not what defined him. What made Bob special was his integrity, passion and love for everyone in the abc13 family.

For most of his 33 years at Eyewitness News, Bob was one of the pillars within the Action 13 unit. He traveled the world with Marvin Zindler and producer Lori Reingold, helping the poor and fighting for those who needed it the most.

While you may remember Bob for his pictures, we will remember him as the kind and loving co-worker who never had a bad thing to say but always worked his tail off.

For all of us here at abc13, he was family and we were his family. Bob lived and breathed television news. His integrity, work ethic and love for his fellow worker will always be remembered and missed. Bob is now out of pain and gone to a much better place. But his good soul will always remain a part of Eyewitness News. All of us at KTRK will forever be thankful for being a part of Bob's family.
