San Antonio police say the infant girl was not hurt in the attack Tuesday afternoon as the former couple apparently argued. Investigators say a 15-year-old bystander who tried to help the victim suffered minor cuts to his arm.
Police did not immediately release the name of the slain teenager, who died at a San Antonio hospital, or charges pending against the 17-year-old suspect. Investigators are trying to determine if he is the baby's father.
Sgt. Trey Roussel says the attack happened just after school ended at nearby Por Vida Academy Charter High School. The victim attended the school.
Her baby has been placed with relatives.
