Many Houstonians are remembering a Houston restaurant legend who died after surgery this week.

James Christie, 79, was the longtime owner of Christie's seafood restaurant, a Houston institution. He was a Greek immigrant who came to Houston and became a big success.

Friends describe him as a generous man who was always giving back to the city he loved.

Christie is the father of Roula Christie, host of the top-rated Roula and Ryan show on KRBE. She says her dad was her hero.
