It happened at the Shop-N-Save grocery store on Veterans Memorial near Antoine.
Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies say the victim was in the store with a woman when he began fighting with the suspect. That's when the suspect pulled out a knife.
"All of a sudden I just saw screaming and I went outside, and he was just walking and he fell on the sidewalk," store clerk Ali Mehroze said. "I thought he probably cut his head or something, but he was bleeding from his chest."
The victim was stabbed in the back and twice in the chest. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say the suspect took off in a white Chevrolet pickup.
