Detectives: Body discovered in NW Harris County park

HOUSTON

The discovered was made around 1pm Wednesday at Hadfield Park at Telge near Cypress Creek.

Equusearch crews stumbled across the body of a man as they were looking for a missing man. Equusearch says they were led to the scene because of buzzards circling over head. The body was found along the bank of Cypress Creek.

Searchers tell us the victim appears to have been shot several times and had been dead for less than 12 hours before he was found.

Investigators were trying to get as much evidence as they can before they lose daylight. They have been unable to tell us so far just how long the man's body might have been there or exactly what precipitated his death. Portions of the park are heavily wooded.

"He's just laying there, looks like it's real difficult to even get a vehicle back there. So how he ended up back there and what happened to him? It's a little hard to tell at this point," Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Ben Beall said.

The Equusearch teams were looking for 68-year-old Tommie Lee Lowery. He apparently has Alzheimer's and has been missing since November 4, according to thE Harris County Sheriff's Office. But we can tell you that investigators think the body found is not that of Lowery. He is black and the one they found is that of an Hispanic man.

The search for Lowery is set to resume Thursday morning.

Authorities say their next step is trying to figure out who this victim was
