Anytime you say "custom" you know it comes with a huge price tag, unless you customize it yourself! It's very easy to make your own custom soft board valence without even sewing.

Here are the instructions on how to make a valence with $30.

  • 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inch board
  • Staple Gun
  • Scissors
  • No Sew Peel and Stick Tape/Glue
  • Fabric
  • Fabric Liner
  • Trim (optional)
  • L-Bracket and Screws
  • Drill
  • Directions:

  • Measure your window. Add three inches to each side and that will be the length of your board
  • Wrap the board with the liner and secure using the staple gun
  • Figure out how long you want the fabric to hang. (Kat's was 16 inches)
  • Cut your fabric and liner to the same length
  • Wrap it around the board and staple
  • "Hem" the bottom using fabric glue or No Sew tape
  • Add trim using fabric glue or No Sew tape
  • Fold the sides like you're wrapping a present and staple(see video)
  • Add the L-Bracket to the back of the board and drill into the wall.
