A Harris County Sheriff's investigator says on October 25, Chance Zugar was upset that he lost his job and began to punch and kick his girlfriend at her home in the 1000 block of Wunsche Loop near Spring.
The woman said Zugar taped her wrists behind her back and taped her ankles together and told her not to leave, according to court documents. A sheriff's investigator said the woman tried to escape several times, but Zugar would grab her and punch her and kick her with boots.
On October 28, Zugar had to leave to contact his probation officer and took the woman with him. According to court documents, the victim was able to get out of the car and ran to a nearby store, where the clerk hid the woman in a back room and called the sheriff's office.
The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for broken bones in her hands and fingers, and a possible broken foot.
Zugar was charged with aggravated assault on family member and kidnapping. Zugar, who has a previous conviction for family violence, is being held in jail with no bond.
