Are some candies better for teeth?

When you're going through your kid's bag of Halloween candy, calories aren't the only thing you should be concerned about. It turns out some candies are not the best for your child's teeth.

Insurance company Delta Dental says to choose treats that quickly dissolve, like sugar-free candy and chocolate. Dentists say stay away from anything that will stay stuck to your teeth for awhile, like caramel and candy corn.

But advice from dentists won't keep some people away from their favorites.

According to the National Retail Federation, this year, Americans will spend about $2 billion on Halloween candy. And if you overspent on Halloween candy, there is a charitable way to get rid of it. How about donating it or getting cash back with the Halloween buyback program?

Dentists across Houston participating in Operation Gratitude will ship your candy to deployed US military.

Some dental offices will offer you a dollar per pound of candy.
