Sheriff's deputies are investigating an attempted home invasion in northwest Harris County.

It happened just before 4am at the Village of Copperfield apartments off Point Park near Highway 6.

The apartment resident, who asked not to be identified, says two men somehow climbed onto his balcony and kicked in the door.

He says that's when he grabbed his gun and shot one of the suspects, injuring him. The resident says one of the two men pulled out a gun and fired back. The bullet hit the floor and then grazed his girlfriend's foot.

Neighbors tell Eyewitness News they heard all of the commotion and then saw two men jump from the balcony. One of them was limping as he ran from the scene. Both suspects remain on the loose.

The victim says this is the second home invasion at his home in the last month. An investigation is underway.
