Texas brewery under fire for slogan 'goes down easy'

A Dallas brewery is getting a lot of backlash for its slogan. Some people argue the double entendre could promote violence against women.

"Goes down easy" can mean throwing back a nice cold beer. But when paired with the drink's name, "Dallas Blonde," some say it takes on a whole new meaning.

"The number one date rape drug is alcohol," said rape center director Bobbie Villareal. "So you combine that it's on a can of alcohol and then you're perpetuating the myth of it going down easy. You know, it is offensive."

"I think it's just completely out of proportion," said John Reardon of the Deep Ellum Brewery. "Likening a tongue in cheek campaign to sexist capitalism and rape culture, that's just gone too far."

Even though he doesn't agree with all the criticism, the brewery's owner has apologized and decided to take the display off their trucks.
