Health officials say they have received thousands of reports of illnesses They believe they can be traced to jerky treats, many of which were imported from China.
FDA officials say this one of the most mysterious outbreaks it has encountered, so it is asking pet owners and veterinarians to contact them if a dog or cat has become ill after eating pet jerky treats.
Of the 3,600 pets that have become ill, nearly 600 have died.
