JJ Watt wants security gate around Pearland neighborhood

PEARLAND, TX

"I think it's great that he lives in Pearland, you know," said Pearland resident John Duong.

Given the recent incident at Matt Schaub's home, where a fan is reported to have shown, it has other players evaluating access to their home.

"I mean I'm working right now to get a gate put on my neighborhood just for that exact reason," said Watt.

Watt lives in a master planned community and says it's not uncommon for fans to be waiting for him after a game. They can easily sit out front because there is no security gate.

"Sometimes they will be waiting in the driveway," said Watt.

Many agree that's crossing the line, even if it is to congratulate him.

"I feel like your house is your home and it's somewhere you should feel safe," said Watt. "Somewhere where you can relax and enjoy yourself and no have to worry about that kind of stuff."

So the defensive end is now looking for a first line of personal defense .

"If he wants to do it and the HOA is good with it, then more power to him," said Duong.
