It happened at the South Sam Houston Tollway eastbound at Almeda and westbound at Highway 288. FM 521 at the South Sam Houston Tollway was also shut down.
According to the Harris County Toll Road Authority, at around 10am, a crew working under the Beltway overpass for Almeda struck a four-inch gas line, prompting the closures. There were no shelter-in-place or evacuation orders.
The incident was declared under control shortly before 1pm and the roadway was opened back up.
