Shortly before noon, police say a driver was believed to be speeding north on MLK Boulevard when the Explorer wrapped around a tree in the median near Griggs, killing him. No one else was in the vehicle.
Police say the road was blocked to traffic until about 2pm.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
