A Baytown man was behind bars Monday for an argument that ended in bloodshed one month ago.

Alejandro Rodriguez, 20, is charged with murder in the August 24 shooting death of Jesus Williams.

The incident happened at a college going away party in the 4700 block of Mohave Circle near Omaha in Baytown. According to court documents, it all started when a group of males arrived at the party. Rodriguez and two friends argued and exchanged insults with the newcomers, officials said. Then, Rodriguez allegedly pulled out a gun and fired three or four shots toward the group.

One of the bullets hit Williams in the head.

Rodriguez and his friends fled the scene, the affidavit states.

Officials said Williams was airlifted to a nearby trauma center where he died two days later.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies interviewed multiple witnesses who all identified the shooter as Rodriguez.

Records show that Rodriguez has an criminal history that includes arrests for aggravated assault and theft. He was being held Monday at Harris County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
