'Test blast' spooks some in downtown Houston

HOUSTON

A security guard from a neighboring business says she called 911 after hearing and feeling the blast shortly after 7am. The company in charge of the demolition says there won't be any more tests ahead of Sunday's demolition, scheduled for 6am.

Due to the location of the implosion site there will be no "safe viewing site lines" to observe the implosion, officials say. Expected street closures are from Fannin to Milam and from Polk to McKinney, starting at 6am. Streets are expected to reopen by 11:45am.

METRO will also be temporarily suspending all lightrail service, and detour select bus routes in the area. For more information on METRO services visit RideMETRO.org or call 713-635-4000.
